If you love the sea and the beach, in less than an hour you can reach the Lazio coast and places like Ostia and Fregene, to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.

Sites To See In Rome

There are so many amazing sights to see in Rome that it would be impossible to list them all here! However, here are some of our favorites:

The Colosseum: This iconic structure dates back to 72 AD and was once used for gladiator fights and other public spectacles. Today, it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rome.

The Pantheon: This ancient temple was built by Emperor Hadrian in 126 AD and is considered one of the best-preserved Roman buildings ever constructed. It's definitely worth a visit!

St Peter's Basilica: This massive church is one of the most famous landmarks in Vatican City and is home to Michelangelo's masterpiece - The Pietà sculpture. If you're interested in art or history, this church should definitely be at the top of your list.

The historic center tells the story of Rome; every single street and wall seems to communicate something to the passer-by.

Which Rome areas are the best to live in?

When it comes to finding a place to live in Rome, there are many different neighborhoods to choose from. Here are some of our favorites:

If you're looking for a suburban area that has all the conveniences and is still close to Rome, then these are the neighborhoods for you! Città Giardino, Montesacro, Nuovo Salario, Porta di Roma, San Lorenzo, and the Pigneto area are all great places to find rentals without spending too much. Plus, they're all surrounded by greenery and offer easy access to shops and transportation.

Trastevere: This lively neighborhood is located on the west bank of the Tiber River and is known for its charming streets and vibrant nightlife. It's also home to some great restaurants and bars.

Prati: This upscale neighborhood is located just north of Vatican City and is home to many embassies and luxury hotels. It's perfect for those who want easy access to all the sights and sounds of Rome.

Monti: This trendy neighborhood is located in the heart of Rome and is popular among young professionals and students. It offers plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops as well as plenty of cultural attractions.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay in Rome and are willing to move further away from the city center, then check out the houses along Via Casilina. This street crosses Rome from east to west, reaching its most peripheral and decentralized areas.

Is it hard to find a rental in Rome?

Yes, it can be hard to find a rental in Rome. There is high demand for rentals in the city and competition can be fierce. However, we guarantee you have a very soft-pedaling experience if you take a look at our affordable properties for rent in Rome.

Certainly Rome cannot be described as a cheap city. Like all large European cities and capitals, it has its pros and cons. However, it is still possible to find cheaper accommodation in Rome, such as student accommodation, rooms in shared flat or accommodation in the outskirts.

How much money do you need to live comfortably in Rome?

The average cost of living in Rome is surprisingly reasonable, particularly for a city with such a high standard of living. If you live outside of the city center you can get away with paying less than 1000 € a month for rent and groceries. However, if you want to live near the main tourist attractions like Vatican City or the Colosseum, expect to pay more.

Rent:

If you want to live in Rome, you will have to pay the rent for the apartment per month. The average cost for a room is about 1000 € per month.

Transport:

When it comes to getting around Rome, there are two main options: the public bus system and the subway. The subway, also known as Metropolitana di Roma, is cheaper than buses but has fewer stops. It's a good option if you're trying to get somewhere quickly, but may not be feasible if you're traveling long distances or your destination isn't on a subway line.

Food and Entertainment:

Restaurants with good food can be very expensive; therefore, it’s better if you go at lunchtime where you can find good deals (about 10-12 €). In some restaurants, in addition to the service fee, they charge an extra fee which is called “Coperto” (around 2 €) which means they put bread on your table.

The entrance fee for most of the movies is around 8-10 € even if they are not new releases and there are some discounts too (for students or who buy tickets online). For parks, don’t worry because they are free! Most of them look like gardens and there are benches where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful weather.

However much you spend on rent, keep in mind that utilities are included in almost all rental prices. This is a big perk that few other cities offer.

How is public transport in Rome?

Public transport in Rome is good, but it can be quite crowded during rush hour. The buses and trams are a great way to get around the city, and there are also some underground stations which can be useful if you're traveling long distances. One downside of public transport in Rome is that it's not always reliable - sometimes the buses don't turn up or they get stuck in traffic or don't work perfectly. If you're planning on renting a property in Rome, We would recommend getting a place close to a bus stop or metro station, as this will make getting around much easier.

You will have to pay for the transport on a monthly basis. The cost is about 30 € per month if you use only public transport and it’s about 60 - 80 €if you use your car on a daily basis.

However, most of the time you'll probably find yourself riding around Rome on a bus. Using the city's ATM buses will cost 1.50 € per ticket (the price went up in 2018), although there are daily and weekly passes available from ticket offices at some metro stations for 6 € and 24 € respectively. When paying cash for tickets on the bus, be aware that only coins are accepted (no bills).

If you don't have a ticket when boarding your bus, you can ask for one from the driver; note that all tickets must be validated by pressing them into the machine next to where you enter the bus before starting your journey! If caught without a valid ticket or pass during an inspection conducted by an officer aboard one of these buses, fines start at 50 € and increase if not paid within 5 days (although these inspections aren't common).
